Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Minyan App LLC ("Minyan App," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Minyan App mobile application, minyanapp.com, and related services. Minyan App LLC is a California limited liability company located at 8605 Santa Monica Blvd #810434, West Hollywood, CA 90069.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you register, we collect your first name and last initial, phone number, and profile details you provide, such as gender and prayer tradition preference, which the app uses to deliver its core coordination features.
- Location information. With your permission, the app uses your device's location to match you with nearby prayer gatherings and to confirm arrival at gatherings you have joined. Location matching happens on our servers. Your location is never displayed publicly and is never shared with other users.
- Contact information you provide about others. If you invite someone, we use the phone number you enter for the sole purpose of delivering that invitation.
- Payment information. If you purchase a sponsorship, payment is processed by Stripe. We store only transaction references. We never store your card number.
- Waitlist and support information. If you join our waitlist or contact us, we collect your email address and the contents of your message.
- Usage information. We collect standard technical data such as device type, app version, and interaction logs to operate and improve the service.
How we use information
- To operate the app's core features: coordinating prayer gatherings, notifying you about gatherings you follow, and confirming attendance.
- To verify your account and secure the service.
- To process sponsorship payments and deliver related messages.
- To respond to support requests and communicate about the service.
- To maintain safety, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
SMS and text messaging
We collect your phone number when you register for Minyan App and use it to send verification codes, prayer gathering alerts, and invitation messages you have consented to receive.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Reply HELP for help.
Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent are not shared with or sold to any third parties for marketing purposes.
How we protect location data
Location data is among the most sensitive information we handle, and we treat it accordingly. Location matching is performed server side only. Precise locations and gathering addresses are disclosed only to participants who need them, are protected with encryption and strict access controls, and are never sold, published, or used for advertising.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
- We do not display your location or your phone number to other users.
- We do not serve third party advertising in the app.
Service providers
We use a small number of service providers to run Minyan App, each bound to use your information only to provide services to us: Amazon Web Services for hosting, Twilio for SMS delivery and phone number verification, Stripe for payment processing, and Apple and Google for push notification delivery.
Data retention
We retain account information while your account is active. Location data associated with a gathering is retained only as long as needed to operate that gathering and for safety and audit purposes, after which it is deleted or de-identified. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time using the contact below.
Your choices and rights
- SMS. Reply STOP to any message to opt out of SMS.
- Push notifications. Manage or disable in your device settings or in the app.
- Location. Manage location permission in your device settings. Some features require it to function.
- Access and deletion. California residents and all users may request access to or deletion of their personal information by contacting us. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Children
Minyan App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will provide notice in the app.
